Helping a healthcare organisation change to a new business system

The client

Home Support Services (HSS) is part of the Medibank group and has been providing in-home healthcare services since 1989.

HSS is committed to providing tailored programs that enable individuals to receive the care they need in the comfort of their own homes.

Challenges

At the time of Insightʼs engagement, the HSSʼs legacy business administration system needed to be replaced by a new system that was being developed by the organisation. The challenge was to finalise the development and release the new system into production before the legacy system went out of warranty. Importantly that development required minimal disruption to HSS’s operations.

Solution

Insight implemented a holistic system management governance framework to help establish clear lines of accountability and decision-making. Comprehensive end-to-end testing was required before implementation.

Outcome

Upon implementation of system governance and undertaking all required pre-release activities, the new system went live successfully on time, and the old system was decommissioned. There was no business interruption as all risks had been managed successfully.

Following the initial release, Insight assisted the client with successfully implementing agile development process to enable expedient releases of additional system functionality.
